B.J. lives at Kitsap Lake near Bremerton, Washington, with his wife Louise. They are the proud parents of children whose accomplishments include six Eagle Scouts and four children who served as student body president at Bremerton High School.

He has been on Chamber of Commerce committees, is a past Treasurer of a Lion's Club, was chairman for two years for the local district of the Boy Scouts of America's Friends of Scouting fundraiser, and has worked in various other community volunteer positions.

Mr. Gent is a graduate of Brigham Young University. He has a Bachelor's Degree in History and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

He taught in the Bremerton School District for thirteen years. That District's Parent Teacher Association gave him The Golden Acorn Award in 1987 for outstanding service to youth.
